Visual Analytics Praktikum
Lecturer: Prof. Tatiana von Landesberger
Course number: 4722.5031
Form: The Praktikum will take place as a block seminar. The dates will be determined at the beginning of the semester.
Content:
In the Visual Analytics Praktikum, students work independently under the guidance of a supervisor on developing a complete visual analytics solution for a predefined problem.
They identify relevant, data-driven questions; design appropriate solution strategies; and develop concepts for user interfaces, interaction mechanisms, and analytical algorithms, when needed. The focus is on the entire process, from framing the initial problem and designing the prototype to implementing and evaluating it.
Depending on the chosen topic, projects may include aspects such as linked visualizations, AI integration, or domain-specific exploration tools. Students are encouraged to take a research-oriented, user-centered approach throughout the project.
The Praktikum fosters creative thinking, independent problem solving, and the practical application of Visual Analytics lecture concepts in a realistic, open-ended project setting.
This Course will be held in English.
